Kia ora, I am Dana

I am a registered psychologist practicing online across New Zealand, with a special focus on supporting people before and after bariatric surgery. My work often involves supporting people improve their relationship with food, manage binge eating behaviours, and navigate the emotional challenges that can come with weight loss, body image, and lifestyle change. I also support individuals who are using or considering weight loss medications, helping them manage expectations, build sustainable habits, and address the psychological aspects of change.

Alongside my bariatric psychology work, I also provide support for a range of other areas including: adjustment to chronic health conditions, depression, anxiety, trauma, and pain management.

My Approach

  • My practice brings together a range of therapeutic approaches, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). I also integrate cultural models of well-being, ensuring that therapy is respectful of each client’s background, values, and lived experiences.
